Volunteers

The Cancer Support Association of Western Australia Inc relies on the help from many volunteers without whom we could not perform many of our activities, and we are very grateful for all their time and energy. Each person who contributes as a volunteer assists us to conserve the funds we raise so that more of these funds can be used to help individuals diagnosed with cancer and their families.

Below are detailed the different areas where help is needed. Where necessary, the CSA provides volunteers with appropriate training. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer simply fill out the form at the end of this section.

What You Can Do

Client Services: Assist the Client Services Section with tasks such as reception, the Wellness Shop, housekeeping and other special projects.

Fundraising: Assist by selling raffle tickets, entering data and folding and compiling mail appeals.

Magazine & Promotion: As part of a friendly group, enjoy morning tea and help with the monthly magazine mail-out. If you have proofreading or computer skills you could also help with production.

Marketing: Assist the Marketing Manager with some great public events.

Corporate Services (Administration): Assist with banking, accounts and general office duties.

Outdoors & Maintenance: Assist with general grounds maintenance and special projects.

Cancer Patient Transport: Assist by transporting others to the CSA.

Special Interest and Self-Help Groups: Experience and certification is essential to become involved in self-help activities such as Reiki clinics, massage, meditation, special events and other special interest groups.

Selection

Selection varies according to different tasks, functions and roles. Most selection will include a combination of an interview and completion of an orientation / training programme.

Volunteer Code of Practice

To promote excellence in service and maximize the quality of their contribution a volunteer will:

  • Be committed to uphold the mission and objectives of the CSA;
  • Be committed to give a high quality of service;
  • Actively accept opportunities for job training conducted by the CSA and carry out all work in an ethical manner and in accordance with the adopted standards and procedures of the CSA;
  • Value and support other CSA volunteers and staff members.
