Guest Speaker Event - Cutting Edge Local Research on the Diagnosis and Management of Cancer

This free event brings together two leading researchers, Professors Rob Newton and Mel Ziman to discuss the latest research on exercise (all cancer types) and melanoma. This event features two eminent research leaders from Edith Cowan University (ECU). Professor Rob Newton is Newton is Associate Dean, Medical and Exercise Sciences and Co-Director of the Exercise Medicine Research Institute, School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University. His work has been world leading in exploring the effects of exercise including in metastatic cancers. Professor Mel Ziman is ECU’s Associate Dean of Research in the School of Medical and Health Sciences and Chair of the Human Research Ethics Committee. She is also an adjunct Professor at The University of Western Australia. Prof Ziman leads the ECU Melanoma Research Group, which she established in 2007 to develop melanoma research in Western Australia and to raise awareness of melanoma in the community. Her research focuses on development of blood based markers for the diagnosis and prognosis of melanoma and is aimed at translation of this research into the clinic for the benefit of all melanoma patients. This research is also relevant to other cancer types.

 

 

 

Professor Rob Newton is Associate Dean, Medical and Exercise Sciences and Co-Director of the Exercise Medicine Research Institute, School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University.

 

Professor Mel Ziman is the Associate Dean (Research), School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University, her areas of expertise include Melanoma and Huntington's Disease. Mel is head of the ECU Melanoma Research Group.
