Is Solaris Cancer Care a registered chairty with Deductible gift recipients (DGR) status?

Solaris Cancer Care is a registred charity and has DGR status.

Will I get a tax receipt?

Yes, you will receive a tax receipt from us after you make a donation.

Can I donate in a person’s name?

Yes, you can donate on behalf of another individual.

Can I donate in a person’s memory?

Donating to Solaris Cancer Care in your loved one’s memory is a positive and lasting way of celebrating his or her life. You will also be helping raise much-needed funds to help people and families on the cancer journey. You can also ask for donations in lieu of flowers.

Can I donate to a specific program or campaign?

If you’re seeking to donate to a specific initiative or looking for a campaign that aligns with your brand, visit the campaigns page.

Can I donate via regular direct debit?

Our secure donations gateway will be up and running soon. When it is live, you can set up regular donations to Solaris Cancer Care through our secure payment gateway.

Can I donate straight from my salary?

You can donate to Solaris Cancer Care directly out of your salary before tax (salary sacrifice). By donating through your payroll, you can support Solaris Cancer Care and obtain the tax benefit immediately. Rather than submitting tax deductible donations with your tax return, your nominated donation amount is deducted from your salary, before deducting your tax. Can I donate using electronic funds transfer?

Can I donate with my credit card?

Can I get a collection tin for my workplace/school/store?

When are your doorknock appeals?

We do not have any doorknock appeals currently scheduled.

How do I buy raffle tickets?

Please visit our Raffle page where you can buy tickets online, buy instant lucky numbers online, order a booklet or tickets or even order books to sell for us.

Can I help in any way other than donating money?

Volunteering helps Solaris Cancer Care conserve the funds we raise so that more of these funds can be used to help people diagnosed with cancer and their families.Solaris Cancer Care relies on the help of volunteers and consider them an integral part of our team. Visit the volunteering page.

Can I create my own fundraiser or nominate Solaris Cancer Care as a recipient?

Yes. You can nominate Solaris Cancer Care as a recipient of funds you raise through your personal endeavours, such as marathons and ‘for a cause’ events. If you’d like to fundraise for us through your own event or endeavor, click here.

Are there any special fundraising events coming up?

We always have events in the pipeline. Check out our events page or fundraising campaigns.

Solaris Cancer Care has also partnered with Inspired Adventures to offer annual life-changing journeys to amazing destinations with a focus on fundraising for Solaris Cancer Care. The program will be launched soon with the first trip being a Walk for Wellness trek along the Great Wall of China in April 2014.

How do you spend the money?

Solaris Cancer Care uses funds raised to pay for: resources, education and research; services; programs; outreach; events; administration and maintenance; and campaigns. Our programs/services include: cancer wellness courses and seminars; support groups; counselling; complementary therapies; and nutrition, meditation and yoga courses from our heritage building in Cottesloe. Programs are also held in Armadale, Mandurah and regional WA.

Do you only support people using certain kinds of treatments?

We offer support to all people with cancer, regardless of their treatment choices. We do not judge anyone’s choices about the kind of treatment for cancer they wish to undergo. We promote an integrative approach that combines mainstream medical and complementary therapies for a whole-person wellbeing outcome. Our key intention is to help people become informed, empowered and supported on their cancer and wellness journeys.

What type of cancer patients do you help?

Solaris Cancer Care supports individuals who are living with any kind of cancer, as well as their families, carers and the wider community.
